Tropical Storm Chantal Kills One

Luke 21:7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place?” Luke 21:11 "There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and epidemics in many lands, and there will be terrifying things (that which strikes terror), and great miraculous signs in the heavens."

One person has died from Tropical Storm Chantal it blew past the southern cost of the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic. A fireman who had been trying to clear a storm drain was washed away by flood waters and later found drowned.

The National Hurricane Center said that Chantal had broken up after hitting the Dominican and that its remnants would be bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to Jamaica and Cuba.

While the storm is no longer a “named” storm, it could still dump at least 6 inches of rain on Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.

Dominican officials say they were considering evacuations of residents from areas likely to flood from the storm remnants. Many residents in rural areas of the Dominican and neighboring Haiti live in flimsy homes that cannot withstand flood waters.
