Egyptian Court Shuts Four Television Stations Including Al-Jazeera Affiliate

Luke 21:9-10: [Jesus said] "When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom."

Al-Jazeera, the middle eastern based news organization which recently opened a U.S. cable channel, is the affiliate of one of four television stations shut down by the Egyptian government.

The court said the stations were sympathetic to the terrorist groups Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.

Al-Jazeera did not make an immediate comment to the shut down of their affiliate.

The move was not entirely unexpected following last week’s announcements by several government ministries calling Al-Jazeera and the other stations a “national threat.” The stations aired broadcasts from wanted Muslim Brotherhood leaders in recent weeks.

The Al-Jazeera affiliate also used a stolen van from Egyptian state television to broadcast from Muslim Brotherhood protest camps.
