Success Through Obedience

“My child, listen to Me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you Wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. If you live a life guided by Wisdom, you won’t limp or stumble as you run. Carry out My instructions; don’t forsake them. Guard them, for they will lead you to a fulfilled life.” Proverbs 4:10-13 (NLT)

The Word of God always points us in the direction of success in ALL areas of life. We have been given a blueprint of success achieved by the men and women of God who ran this race before us. This blueprint shows us what the reward is for a life filled with Wisdom.

Many times we have breakdowns in our lives when we have missed, disobeyed or disregarded an instruction. Have you ever forgotten just “one” ingredient in a cake recipe? With just that “one” ingredient missing, it can ruin the entire cake. What a bummer that is!!! That is how it is when we have missed an ingredient in the recipe of life given in God’s Word.

When we follow the instructions of the Lord Jesus and do what He says, we can expect a life of fulfillment and peace. Failure comes to those who have not chosen the narrow pathway that leads to success. It’s not only what we know, but what we do with that knowledge that brings success and causes our lives to be fulfilling and blessed.

Proverbs 1:20-22 (NCV) “Wisdom is like a woman shouting in the street; she raises her voice in the city squares. She cries out in the noisy street and shouts at the city gates: “You fools, how long will you be foolish? How long will you make fun of Wisdom and hate knowledge?”

The Word of God works for anyone who will believe it and act on it. The Bible is God’s plan for man, and it’s only when we follow His plan that we will absolutely make our way prosperous and have good success. The world’s measure of success is totally different from God’s opinion of success. True lasting success is obedience to God’s instructions in His Word.

In the book of Joshua 1:8 (KJV) God tells Joshua His plan for success… “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to ALL that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.
