Tribal clashes in Libya have killed 105 people and left over 500 injured according to the Libyan government.

Explosives were found in a car parked at the largest nuclear plant in Sweden according to police. The explosives were found during a routine car inspection and resulted in immediate tightening of security at plants around the country.
Vattenfall, the company that runs the Ringhals nuclear power facility, said the explosives were not enough to cause “major” damage. The company further said there was no risk of explosion due to a detonating device not being found with the explosive. Eurozone ministers are gathering in Luxembourg to discuss plans to lower government borrowing costs as Spain’s bond yields hit a 16 year high.
The government paid a yield of 6.07% on five year bonds up from 4.96% in May. The 2.2 billion euros raised will fund 61% of the Spanish government’s operations and debt payments for the rest of 2012. Continue reading →
Hamas admitted to an attack against Israel involving rockets and mortars. Hamas usually denies making attacks on Israel but spokesman Fawzi Barhoum claimed the attacks were in response to Israeli strikes.
Hamas had initially blamed Israel for the death of a two-year-old girl in Gaza stating she died from an Israeli air strike. It was later shown that she actually died during a botched rocket attack by Hamas. Continue reading →
Three NATO soldiers and a local interpreter were among 21 killed when a homicide bomber attacked a joint NATO-Afghan military checkpoint. The bomber drove a motorcycle covered in explosives into a bazaar near the checkpoint.

Militant Islamists issued a statement claiming responsibility for the murder of 50 Christians in bomb attacks in Nigeria.
Boko Haram claimed the attacks were in retribution for Christians “destroying mosques” and turning others into “beer parlors and prostitution joints.”

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stated he is “very concerned” about the chance of a major cyber attack on the United States that could bring down government and financial systems. The declaration came as part of his testimony to a congressional panel regarding the upcoming Defense Department budget.
